WANTED for the Continental Hospital in Williamsburg, some NURSES to attend the sick. Any such, coming well recommended, will have good encouragement by applying to the Director of the Hospital.

The Continental Congress resolved that 2 surgeons, 1 apothecary, 6 mates, 1 clerk, 1 storekeeper and 1 nurse to every 10 sick be employed. Nurses were of both sexes. In May 1776 the Virginia Convention appointed a committee to investigate the formation of a hospital in Williamsburg.
