Description |
The restoration of Colonial Williamsburg was based on the desire to follow the achaeological and architectural evidence as precisely as it was understood at the time.. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., the Rev. Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin, and architects William Graves Perry and Fiske Kimball, all born before the end of the 19th century, could not have foreseen the ever-increasing refinement of the tools of research. Interpretation of the buildings has evolved over the years with changes in guidelines for the rooms in reconstructed buildings.
