Title African Americans and the Restoration of Williamsburg
Issue Volume 36, Number 03 (CWJ, Summer 2014)
Description The impact of the Restoration on the African American population of Williamsburg can be described as a mixed blessing. While some blacks saw increased segregation and low-wage jobs, others found more job opportunities, social mobility and improved schools. Restoration affected the black population's schools, churches and housing neighborhoods as well as desegregation patterns.
