Description |
The Virginia-born delegate to the 1787 Constitutional Convention, William Pierce Jr., a painter by inclination, a politician and farmer by necessity, maintained records of the Convention during his month's attendance. Pithy commentary and and character sketches of the Philadelphia delegates were published in 1828 in a book known as "Pierce's Reliques" after his 1788 death at 35.
