Description Remarkable story of an historic 1932 dramatization of the anniversary of the nation's mail service by dispatching letters to Governor John Garland Pollard in Richmond by way of post rider and airplane. VA Gazette publisher Joseph Osborne functioned as Postmaster passing letters to W & M student George Hewes, descendant of Joseph Hewes, who signed the Declaration of Independence for NC. Ceremony concluded with speech the Rev. W.A.R. Goodwin and flyover by Jimmy Doolittle!
