Title Sustained by Faith First Baptist Church's 240-year story
Issue Volume 01, Number 01 (T&T, , Winter 2016)
Description Williamsburg's First Baptist Church's 240-year story is one of survival, conviction and courage. In 1776, enslaved and free black worshippers met in secret with Gowan Pamphlet, later in the city's First Baptist Church on Nassau Street and then in 1956 in its current site on Scotland Street. The current pastor, the Rev. Dr. Reginald Davis, was preceded by the Rev. Dr. Thomas T. Shields.
