Description |
Not everyone was ready for revolution. Narratives from 1774-5 usually found in historical works, usually ignore any profound disagreement within the colonies. A full range of opinions before the outbreak of war can be more fully explored in other sources such as letters written by James Parker, a Scots merchant, to a friend, Charles Steuart, a fellow Scot who had lived in Norfolk but returned to London. He adopted the political positions, but doubted the wisdom of confrontation with Britain.
