Description | Virginia's Royal Governor, John Murray the 4th Earl of Dunmore, bet that a coalition of Native Americans and Enslaved Africans would quell the American Rebellion. In 1775, he offered freedom to the enslaved who would fight for the British. Additionally, with the aid of Dr. John Connolly, an adventurer located in the frontier, Native Americans were enlisted as far west as Detroit. The idea being to separate the northern and southern colonies and quash the rebellion. |
