Description |
Scholars think that an exposure to a variety of styles helped Patrick Henry find his own voice. Henry's personal library had a wide-ranging variety of subjects including the Sermons of Rev. Samuel Davies, whom he admired as a great orator. Other members of his family were talented speakers (uncle William Winston). Most of his speeches were not written down by him , but recorded later by others. He was also a lawyer and member of the House of Burgesses which helped contribute to his oratory success.
