Title America's First Law Professor

Description Even though he signed the Declaration, George Wythe is mostly remembered as a techer. He had a lasting impact on his students including Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall, and Henry Clay. Before his appointment as a professor of law at W&M in 1779, students had been apprenticed. One of his innovations was the moot court, which is a teaching tool still in use.
