Description |
With the increasing focus on improving test scores in reading and math, the subject of social studies/history often receives less funding in schools. Colonial Williamsburg's Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership brings together educators every year to share strategies on how teachers can weave history into all subjects. The hands-on approach at Colonial Williamsburg brings teachers in contact with primary source documents, character interpreters, and access to the Colonial Williamsburg Educational Resource Library. Many of the teachers who participated in the Colonial Williamsurg training find that a focus on history covers not only that subject, but STEAM standards as well. As stated by Jill Cross, a "Master Teacher" with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership, "all teachers are social-studies teachers."
