Colonial Williamsburg honors the memory of Abby O'Neill, who died in May 2017. She was named for her grandmother, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, and honored the legacy of her grandparents through her service as a trustee of the Colonial Williamsburg for 28 years. Abby O'Neill and her husband George supported expansions of the Art Museums, restoration of Basset Hall, and the construction of Bruton Heights Educational Center. Her personal connection to John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and the founding of Colonial Williamsburg was lovingly shared through the many memories she told her colleagues and her efforts to support the mission of the Foundation.
