Marriage bond: Enoch Powell and Mary Poythress of Prince Edward Co., VA; witnessed by Theodorick Bland. Pilfered during the War Between the States and given as gift by Yankee soldier. Sets a sum of N50 to be paid to the Crown. If the marriage is not solemnized the obligation is void. Included on the back is a note which reads “My compliments to Miss Mattie Power, July 23rd, 1864, William Van Giesen.”
