Jacob C. Sheldon letter to John D. McGill(1834 November 27)

  • MS 2012.18
  • 1 item

Letter of Jacob C. Sheldon to John D. McGill concerning the sale of the home of McGill’s mother. Sheldon informs McGill that the current state of the house, formerly Wetherburn’s Tavern, is such that he does not think it will fetch $1,500. Sheldon writes that he will communicate any offer he should receive to McGill.

Mrs. Martha Rowsay McGill inherited the property from her mother, Frances Tabb Rowsay Powell (1754–1824) in 1824. It was rented after 1835 and sold to Richard Randolph in 1841.
