Governor Patrick Henry’s letter concerns the most recent outbreak of fighting and Col. Preston’s orders for his militia company to be in readiness. Approves of Col. [Evan] Shelby’s plan of defense. Hopes an expedition into Ohio m ay be possible. Col. [William] Fleming will be directed to cooperate. Col. [James] South all will deliver powder and mine managers will deliver lead for shot, perhaps from Richmond.
