- MS 2012.17
- 1 item
Pension grant for Philip Evans signed by Virginia governor Robert Brooke. Brooke certifies that Evans is eligible to receive a pension of 10 pounds per year under a law passed December 15, 1791 entitled: “An Act for allowing Pensions to sundry persons therein mentioned.” Evans received a pension from the state because he was unable to support himself due to injuries incurred during the Revolution. The United States Congress would pass an act for the relief of Continental soldiers in “reduced circumstances” in 1818.
